Park at the major sweeping right bend in Signal Hill Road just past the stone-walled farm buildings. Walk to Burns Reserve boundary then, via regenerating podocarp forest to the volcanic outcrop, Gerry’s Rock, and back. Spectacular harbour views and flowering Easter orchids.

About two thirds of the way up Signal Hill Road, a little way past house number 215, is a layby on the right hand side of the road as well as a slightly wider verge on the left hand side. There will be a sign (Gerry's Rock Walk) on the telegraph pole in the layby. This is the best place to park. Turn your car at the No Exit entry and park in the layby so that you're facing downhill, the right way to go back down Signal Hill Road at the end of the walk. Parking is limited, we encourage carpooling.
